Rotaliana at Eataly NY

In the wake of Depero, together with Trentino Sviluppo, Rotaliana "exports" its lights to NY

Rotaliana is present at Eataly New York, a significant Made in Italy venue in the USA: a compendium of diversity and of excellent Italian products.

The presence of a lighting manufacturer such as Rotaliana in this space is proof of how many things in common the Made in Italy strongholds (Italian taste, design, cinema and fashion) have throughout the world: the blending of technique with aesthetics and of beautiful with well-made, the roots in the homeland (‘terroir’ for wines), the construction of a brand identity and certified quality.

With its lamps – designed through the collaboration with designers from all over the world – Rotaliana has shown talent in typological and technological innovation and a market approach in line with the province of Trento’s vocation to accept challenges both within and beyond its mountain ranges. Rotaliana has a propensity for the future that is strongly embedded in the Italian region where it was born, Trentino, and in particular in the Piana Rotaliana alluvial plain that gives the company its name.

This plain, extending along the Adige river valley and flanked by hills covered in vineyards, is the land of origin of most of Trentino’s DOC wines, spumante wines and grappa distillates of excellence, all important messengers and symbols of Trentino and of the Made in Italy agri-food sector. In addition to the ‘modernisation’ of the wine-making sector, the case of the Trentino apples from Val di Non - that were the first in Italy to boast a "name", a brand that attesta to their origin and therefore to their certified quality - is yet another example of how Trentino has known how to enhance tradition and tackle the commercial challenge by applying a modern mindset.

Speaking of propensity for the future, Fortunato Depero, one of the founders of the Futurist movement, born amidst the Trentino mountains in 1892, was also the first Italian artist to work with the then blooming food industry, designing the famous Campari Soda bottle. Having moved to New York in 1928, Depero discovered a futurist America, a city-machine made of skyscrapers, progress and lights.

In Depero’s wake and together with Trentino Sviluppo, the company that promotes the products of excellence of this Italian region with a vocation for innovation and internationalisation, Rotaliana turns on its lights in New York.

Rotaliana has a range of products designed to light up the domestic and public environments of the new global world, a catalogue of original products, sometimes experimentally so, that have a plural identity and that stand out for their elegant design that enhances the pleasure of living. There are new lighting objects (such as Multipot) as well as traditional designs (such as Dina+, on display at Eataly) that meet modern requirements and complement fields of application where lighting creates totally new conditions of comfort.
